Anyone of us can find ourselves in need of a compassionate space where we feel heard and understood

Hello and welcome. I am an integrative counsellor, providing short and long-term therapy to adults, children, and young people. I appreciate how daunting it is to take the first step, but I aim to ensure that you feel comfortable enough to begin your journey. If you are thinking about starting therapy, please contact me and together, we can look at what has brought you to counselling. In partnership, we can work towards finding your solutions.

About me and my practice

Are you perhaps looking for someone to confide in? Perhaps somewhere where it feels safe to talk, express, and to explore? You may have reached a point in your life where you feel that you need help to deal with something, understand it, or come to terms with it. You may even feel unable to accurately pinpoint the reason behind your sense of unhappiness, or that feeling of being unable to cope. Sometimes, there isn't a name or heading for the way that you feel; yet you do have the inkling that now might be the right time to do something about it.

Counselling can offer you that opportunity, time and space, to reflect upon what has led you here. I have witnessed the transformation that happens in counselling, and seen it change lives. That means I am passionate about offering that opportunity to support people.

I can help with issues such as anxiety, depression, relationships, low self/esteem, coping with life's challenges, or how our early relationships affect us. The reasons why people seek out counselling are as unique and as varied as we are. Behind every reason is vulnerability; and a desire to feel better.

I have a very strong belief in the positive nature of all human beings, and the uniqueness and worth of everyone. I believe that you are the expert in your own internal world, and you are the only person who can decide what the meaning of your life is, and how you choose to live it. I do not offer advice, but instead, hope to provide a warm and welcoming environment, free from judgement, where we can work together to overcome or become reconciled with whatever it is you are facing; finding, or building upon your existing resources, and seeking out new ways for you to move forward. We will go on a journey of increasing self-knowledge for you, and you can begin to think about what changes you might like to make, as you discover more self-compassion.

Experience

I currently work for MIND, and in health and social care and the charity sector, where I support people with a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, self-harm, disability discrimination, grief, bereavement, and loss, relationship issues, the demands of being a full-time carer, and the experience of living with life-limiting, chronic, or critical illness. My counselling experience includes working with children, young people, and adults in schools, and with an agency offering low cost counselling to families, parents, guardians, children and young people.

I work in an integrative way, adapting to what might best suit your needs. This means I use methods from various schools of thought, primarily person-centred, but taking an existential, spiritual, philosophical, or transpersonal approach if those feel useful and appropriate for you. I am also trained in mindfulness techniques from my time as a personal trainer and yoga instructor. You are at the heart of the process, and my aim is to walk alongside you, as you find your path out from the feelings or problems which you are experiencing.

Initial Consultation

Our first session together lasts up to 20 minutes, and is free of charge. This gives you an opportunity to ask questions, and get used to the idea of the counselling process, which can sometimes feel unfamiliar and new. The counselling relationship is a unique one, and I understand that not every counsellor can help every client. I'm able to recognise when I cannot help, and I would signpost you to further sources of support, which may be other mental health support, or alternative methods of counselling.

£45 per 50 minute session
